Dear
Friends
COSmino are a unique theatre company, based in Poland featuring a
rare collaboration between English actress, Rachel Karafistan and
Polish actor Kuba Pierzchalski, (both are also actors with
internationally critically acclaimed company Teatr Biuro Podróży).
In
January 2003 COSmino celebrated it's fifth anniversary with a week
of performances and workshops. We would like to thank everyone who
supported this event and helped to make it a great success.
November
2003 also saw the premiere of our latest performance Obfitość
(Plenty) which explodes the issue of greed and desire:
...
this fairy tale and revue convention is often broken, derided,
questioned, and deprived of artificiality…
Everything revolves around the topic of possession presented in the
context of other major sins. People perform here next to the
pigs. This very clever performance gives the impression of a
somewhat ghastly fairytale for grown ups, where gentle tone
transforms suddenly into seriousness and horror.
[...]
One can observe certain repeatability, new trends, and sets of
theatre props and tricks that crystallise into new standards.
COSmino theatre enters this broad spectrum in a very interesting way
and I am certain that it will continue to provide us with numerous
exciting surprises.
